4th Grade - Dougherty, Elanor

Elanor Dougherty

About Me:

Hi! My name is Elanor Marie Dougherty. I am a person of many interests and talents. Besides being very dedicated to my work as a teacher I also like to make jewelry, play soccer, garden, cook, dance, travel and participate in various other sports. I was born in Santa Rosa, California. I then attended a Spanish Immersion program at Fitch Mountain School in Healdsburg, California for my primary years of education. We had to move to Half Moon Bay, California and I maintained my Spanish by participating with my seventh grade class in a student exchange program to Mexico City, Mexico. I further improved my language skills as I grew up to be an adult, staring with advanced classes in high school, some college literature classes, and by taking my senior years courses, at the University of California Santa Barbara, abroad in San José, Costa Rica. We have a great 4th grade team! This year I will be teaching Spanish Language Arts and Social Studies. We study all about California, its geography, culture, history and ecology. We also work to improve our language skills in Spanish, increase vocabulary and reading fluency. Students will need to pay attention and complete class work in order to be successful. I am looking forward to a year of hard work and hope the students are too!
